Why Density is the Foundation of Quality
In the world of vacuum compressed furniture, foam density is not just about comfort—it is a matter of structural integrity. Standard foams used in cheap, non-compressed furniture will permanently deform if subjected to the extreme pressure of an industrial vacuum press.
The Ideal Density Range
For a sofa to successfully survive being crushed to 15% of its volume and shipped across the ocean, it requires High-Resilience (HR) Polyurethane Foam. The best density for sofa in a box (vacuum compressed)s falls within the 30D to 45D range (30 kg/m³ to 45 kg/m³).
- 30D Foam: The absolute minimum acceptable density. Provides a very plush, soft sink-in feel, but may degrade faster over years of heavy use.
- 35D Foam (Industry Standard): The "Goldilocks" density for most e-commerce brands. It offers excellent compression recovery, a comfortable medium-firm feel, and great durability at a competitive price point.
- 40D - 45D Foam: Premium density. Very firm, exceptionally durable, and guarantees lightning-fast recovery upon unboxing. Ideal for commercial projects or high-end retail lines.
The F-concept Standard
We refuse to use sub-30D foam in our seating cushions. Our standard OEM models are equipped with 35D HR foam, ensuring your customers receive a product that expands perfectly every time.
